Rome, Aug. 7 (LaPresse) – Today, Israel is expected to approve a gradual plan to seize large areas of the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to convene the security cabinet at 6:00 p.m. local time. According to various Israeli media outlets, including Ynet and the public broadcaster Kan, the military campaign is expected to last between four and five months and involve four or five IDF divisions. The plan will result in the displacement of around one million Palestinians. It would begin with the takeover of Gaza City and the central part of the Strip, pushing about half the population of the enclave southward, into the humanitarian zone of Al-Mawasi.
