Kiev, August 9 (LaPresse) – "The Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier," "the answer to the Ukrainian territorial issue is already in the Constitution of Ukraine. No one will deviate from this, and no one can do so," wrote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram. "The Ukrainians defend what is theirs," and "we will not reward Russia for what it has done," the leader added, emphasizing that "the Ukrainian people deserve peace. But all partners must understand what a dignified peace means."
"This war must end, and it must be Russia that ends it. It was Russia that started it and dragged it on, ignoring all deadlines, and that is the problem, nothing else," Zelensky stated.
The Ukrainian president made these statements after some media outlets, such as Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal, leaked rumors that the plan being developed by Washington and Moscow includes the cession of Russian-occupied territories to Putin. According to the WSJ, in particular, Putin reportedly presented the Trump administration this week with a proposal for a ceasefire, asking, in exchange for ending the fighting, for Kiev to cede the eastern Donbass region.
