Rome, Aug. 10 (LaPresse) – U2 have taken a stand against Benjamin Netanyahu in a lengthy letter published on their social media, in which they say they feel “revulsion” at the “moral failure” of the Israeli government. “The government of Israel is not the nation of Israel, but the government of Israel led by Benjamin Netanyahu today deserves our categorical and unequivocal condemnation,” reads one passage of the letter. “There is no justification for the brutality that he and his far-right government have inflicted on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank — and not only since October 7, but long before, even if the level of depravity and illegality we are witnessing now seems like uncharted territory.”
“As someone who has long believed in Israel’s right to exist and supports the two-state solution, I want to make it clear to anyone who will listen that our group condemns Netanyahu’s immoral actions and stands with all those who have called for an end to hostilities on both sides,” Bono adds, explaining that the band “stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people who sincerely seek a path to peace and coexistence with Israel and with their legitimate demand for independence.” “We stand in solidarity with the remaining hostages and implore that someone rational negotiate their release,” the letter concludes.
