Rome, August 13 (LaPresse) – According to sources from Palazzo Chigi, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is closely following the operations scheduled for this evening, which involve the return of three C-130 aircraft carrying 31 young patients and 86 escorts, totaling 117 people. The planes took off the day before yesterday from Italy, headed to Cairo and Ramon (Eilat). These sources explain that this is the most significant operation carried out so far under the coordination of the Prime Minister’s Office as part of Italy’s humanitarian efforts to assist the civilian population of Gaza. With the conclusion of today’s operation, a total of 580 people will have been brought to Italy through medical evacuations, including 181 patients and 399 escorts. The aircraft will land at Milan Linate, Ciampino, and Pisa airports, after which the patients will be directed to the most suitable healthcare facilities, while their escorts will be assisted by the Prefectures. The operations coordinated by the Prime Minister’s Office involve the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Interior, and the Civil Protection Department, in collaboration with the WHO and within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
