Milan, August 17 (LaPresse) – Marah Abu Zuhri, the 20-year-old Palestinian girl who died at the 'Cisanello' hospital in Pisa after being transferred from Gaza in a severe state of malnutrition, had leukemia, and the cancer diagnosis had been omitted from reports about her death. This was stated by COGAT, the Israeli Ministry of Defense body coordinating humanitarian issues in Gaza, as reported by The Times of Israel. COGAT published a document from the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis confirming her leukemia diagnosis. "Italian authorities contacted Israel to request Marah’s evacuation due to her illness, and Israel approved it," COGAT said. The hospital described her as arriving in "a state of severe physical deterioration," while Italian media reported she suffered from severe malnutrition. COGAT added that the transfer could have happened earlier, as Israel had proposed several possible dates. "Israel facilitates medical transfers, especially for children, and encourages countries worldwide to submit such requests, while Hamas continues to cynically exploit patients for its distorted purposes," it stated.
