Milan, 23 August. (LaPresse) – A journalist, Khaled al-Madhoun, has been killed by the Israeli army in the northern Gaza Strip. Al-Jazeera reports, citing the Palestinian Journalists' Union, that the reporter was shot near the Zikim crossing, north of Gaza City, while waiting to document the arrival of trucks carrying humanitarian aid. According to a tally by Shireen.ps, a monitoring website named after Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank in 2022, approximately 270 journalists and media workers have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of the war in Gaza, or about 13 journalists per month.
