Rome, 24 August (LaPresse) – "We are building a Ukraine that will have enough strength and power to live in security and peace. So that in this square, in the square of our independence, under our flags, on our land, our children and grandchildren can celebrate Independence Day. In peace. In tranquillity. With confidence in the future. With respect. And with gratitude to all those who defended Ukraine in this war for independence, who were successful and who won. It is worth living for such a goal." These were the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a video message filmed in Maidan Nezalezhnosti, Independence Square in Kiev, broadcast on Ukraine's Independence Day, which is celebrated on 24 August in memory of the declaration of independence from the USSR in 1991. "Happy holiday to you, great people of a great country. Happy Independence Day, glory to Ukraine," Zelensky added.
