Turin, 25 Aug. (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Lebanon's efforts to move towards the disarmament of Hezbollah by the end of 2025 and offered to reduce the Israeli presence in Lebanon if the disarmament is implemented. In a post on X, the prime minister's office said it recognised ‘the important step taken by the Lebanese government,’ calling it ‘a crucial opportunity for Lebanon to regain its sovereignty and re-establish the authority of state institutions.’ ‘In light of this important development, Israel is ready to support Lebanon in its efforts to disarm Hezbollah and to work together for a more secure and stable future for both countries,’ the statement continued. ‘If the Lebanese Armed Forces take the necessary steps to implement the disarmament of Hezbollah, Israel will take reciprocal measures, including a gradual reduction of the IDF's presence in coordination with the US-led security mechanism,’ Netanyahu's office said.
