Milan, 31 August (LaPresse) – The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denies Moscow's claims, after Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov claimed yesterday that Russia has conquered over 3,500 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory since March. Moscow is trying to ‘pass off its illusions as reality’ by spreading false results of its spring-summer offensive, said the Kiev General Staff, stating that ‘in three and a half years of large-scale aggression by the Kremlin, its “seasonal” offensive campaign has ended in virtually nothing.’ In particular, Kiev points out that the Russians have failed to establish full control over any of Ukraine's major cities and claims that, since the beginning of 2025, Moscow has lost more than 290,000 soldiers between dead and wounded.
