Milan, 31 August (LaPresse) – During his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may offer Turkey's mediation on Ukraine. This is according to the Russian news agency Ria Novosti, citing a Turkish diplomatic source. Erdogan and Putin are both in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Tianjin. The SCO has 10 full members: Russia, Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Originally conceived as a counterweight to US influence in Central Asia, the initial organisation gained four new members with the addition of India and Pakistan in 2017, Iran in 2023 and Belarus in 2024.
