Kabul (Afghanistan), 1 September (LaPresse/AP) – A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Nangarhar region in eastern Afghanistan, causing several injuries and damage, the extent of which cannot be assessed at this time. The earthquake occurred last night at a depth of just 8 kilometres. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre was located 27 kilometres east-northeast of Jalalabad. Naqibullah Rahimi, spokesman for the Nangarhar Department of Public Health, said that 15 people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck the same region about 20 minutes later.
