Kyiv, Sept 7 (LaPresse) – Hundreds of drones and missiles were launched in a Russian attack targeting Ukrainian cities, hitting several buildings in Kyiv. This was reported by city authorities. At least two people were killed and 17 others injured in attacks on the capital, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, cited by the Kyiv Independent.
Mayor Klitschko said debris from a Russian drone struck three multi-story residential buildings in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district and another in the Darnytskyi district, causing fires in the buildings. The third floor of a four-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district partially collapsed, while a nine-story building in the Sviatoshynskyi district was seriously damaged. The full extent of the damage caused by the attack is still unclear.
There were at least three waves of attacks. According to a Kyiv Independent journalist on the scene, around 6:05 local time, explosions were heard again in Kyiv, coinciding with the approach of a series of Russian missiles. During a third wave of explosions around 7:45, a Kyiv Independent journalist described a strong smell of burning in the city.
