Brussels, Sept. 11 (LaPresse) – The European Parliament has approved the resolution proposal on Gaza jointly put forward by the S&D socialists, Renew liberals, and the Greens. The EPP distanced itself from the united resolution yesterday and attempted to dilute the text with several amendments. Out of 578 voters, 305 MEPs voted in favor, 151 against, and 122 abstained. Since this resolution has been approved, the proposals from the other groups will not be put to a vote. ‘The European Parliament calls on Member States to consider recognising the State of Palestine with a view to achieving the two-state solution; reiterates, in this regard, this House's demand that all hostages be released immediately and that the terrorist organisation Hamas play no role in the future of Gaza,’ the resolution reads.
