Denpasar (Indonesia), 11 September (LaPresse/AP) – Torrential rains that began on Monday caused flooding and landslides in Indonesia, particularly on the tourist island of Bali and in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, killing at least 20 people. The rain caused rivers to overflow, devastating nine towns and districts in Bali. Mud, rocks and trees fell on mountain villages, and rising rivers submerged at least 120 neighbourhoods and caused a dozen landslides in various locations. Rescuers are searching for six people who are still missing. Today, as river levels returned to normal, residents of Denpasar, the capital of Bali, left emergency shelters. Electricity has been restored to tens of thousands of homes and businesses.
