Tokyo (Japan), 11 September (LaPresse/AP) – Heavy rains have flooded some roads and blocked rail and air traffic in Tokyo. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, 12 centimetres of rain fell in the capital in just one hour. Air traffic control and other ground services at Tokyo's Haneda Airport were disrupted due to lightning, preventing planes from taking off. Rail services were also temporarily suspended, including the bullet train and other lines in the region. Across Tokyo, the storm flooded roads and some social media users reported hail. According to Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, at one point more than 7,000 homes were without power. Hours later, power was restored to most of them. Authorities warned that more storms were expected overnight and urged residents to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel and monitor weather updates.
