Washington, Sept. 21 (LaPresse) – President Donald Trump’s latest plan to reform the U.S. immigration system has left some immigrant workers and major tech companies puzzled. On Saturday, the White House rushed to clarify that the new $100,000 visa tax for skilled tech workers, soon to take effect, applies only to new applicants and not to current visa holders. On Friday, the president signed a proclamation making the tax mandatory for H-1B visas, intended for highly skilled positions that tech companies have difficulty filling.
