Frankfurt (Germany), 1 October (LaPresse) – ‘This is a new dimension in the skies, in terms of the quantity and quality of the use of these aircraft, and we must adapt our defensive measures very quickly in order to be able to react more quickly.’ This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the issue of airspace violations by suspicious drones, speaking at a press conference in Berlin with his Peruvian counterpart Elmer Schialer Salcedo. "Drones are already being used increasingly in Russia's war against Ukraine, and at this point, we must assume that these are, so to speak, excesses. We must defend ourselves against this. These are unacceptable violations of sovereignty, and it is therefore right that the Federal Ministry of the Interior, which is responsible for threat prevention, together with the Ministry of Defence, is now creating the legal basis to prevent these drones from carrying out their mission. And, of course, we also need the technical prerequisites in place quickly to ensure that this can be successfully implemented," added Wadephul.
