Rome, Oct 8 (LaPresse) – Jihad al-Shamie, the man who carried out the deadly attack at a Manchester synagogue during Yom Kippur last week, called the police during the assault to “pledge allegiance” to the Islamic State group. The information was released by UK counterterrorism police, as reported by British media. “In the early stages of the attack outside the Heaton Park Jewish Congregation synagogue, the assailant called the police declaring his allegiance to the so-called Islamic State,” said a spokesperson for the counterterrorism police. The 35-year-old was shot dead by police within seven minutes of the attack, in which two British citizens of Jewish origin were killed.
