Rome, Oct. 18 (LaPresse) – Ukrainian authorities reported that Russia launched an overnight attack using 164 drones and three S-300 surface-to-air missile systems. Of these drones, 136 were destroyed in northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine. The news was reported by Ukrinform, citing Kyiv's air force. Twenty-seven drone attacks were recorded across 12 locations, and debris from downed drones fell in four areas.
Meanwhile, according to Axios, the meeting between Trump and Zelensky was "a tense one." Trump – Axios writes – told Zelensky that he does not intend to supply long-range Tomahawk missiles, at least for now. Zelensky had hoped to leave Washington with commitments on new weapons for Ukraine, "but found Trump in a completely different mood the day after a long phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin." Trump made it clear that his priority now is diplomacy and that providing Tomahawks could undermine it, sources say.
