Milan, 21 October (LaPresse) – "There is an international demand for disarmament that Hamas has approved. Furthermore, they must not have any role in the government of Gaza: the weapons must be surrendered.‘ This was stated in an interview with Corriere della Sera by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, known as Abu Mazen, who will be visiting Italy on 7 November. For the leader of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), ’the two-state solution remains the only option to ensure peace, security and stability throughout the region. It guarantees the Palestinian people the right to freedom, independence and the creation of their own sovereign state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel in peace, security and good neighbourly relations.‘ ’I believe that the path to peace is now more open than ever, so that Israel and Palestine can live together in security," Abbas concluded.
