Cairo (Egypt), 1 Nov. (LaPresse) – Egypt today inaugurates the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world's largest museum dedicated to its ancient civilisation, with the aim of reviving the country's struggling tourism industry and economy. Located near the Pyramids of Giza, on the outskirts of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, it displays over 50,000 artefacts, including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun's treasures. The museum, a project supported by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, has suffered delays since construction began in 2005. The government has improved the infrastructure around the site, including roads and a new underground station. Officials hope the museum will attract more tourists, helping to stabilise the Egyptian economy.
