Rome, 1 November (LaPresse) – Russia condemns the excessive use of military force by the United States in anti-drug missions in the Caribbean. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, quoted by Ria Novosti. ‘Such actions violate both US domestic law and international law,’ Zakharova explained. ‘This has been recognised by representatives of numerous countries and international organisations, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.’ Moscow, she added, supports the Venezuelan leadership and is fighting to maintain peace in Latin America and the Caribbean. Zakharova therefore called for de-escalation and a constructive resolution of existing problems, in accordance with international law.
