Rome, 12 Nov. (LaPresse) – In a statement issued by his office, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, following a letter sent by Donald Trump in which the American president asked him to pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that such a request must be submitted through the appropriate channels. ‘The president has great respect for President Trump and repeatedly expresses his appreciation for his unwavering support for Israel and his enormous contribution to the return of hostages, the reorganisation of the Middle East and Gaza, and the safeguarding of Israel's security,’ the Israeli president's office said. ‘Notwithstanding the above, as the President has made clear on several occasions, anyone seeking clemency must submit a formal request in accordance with established procedures.’
