Milan, 15 Nov. (LaPresse) – Continuing the efforts of the Iranian authorities to increase pressure on the mandatory hijab, the head of the judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, said that prosecutors have been ordered to identify, in collaboration with security and police agencies, what he called ‘organised and foreign-linked’ trends in the field of ‘social anomalies’ and to bring them before the judicial system. Yesterday, during a meeting of the Qom Provincial Administrative Council, Ejei said: ‘One manifestation of the enemy's efforts is the issue of nudity and not wearing the hijab, and another manifestation is cyberspace.’ This was reported by Iran International. "We must be vigilant against the evils of the enemy and not unwittingly play into their hands. We must not raise a minor internal issue in a way that leads the enemy to abuse it and provide them with an argument," he added. Ejei's statements follow a series of directives and positions by senior officials of the Islamic Republic regarding the stricter enforcement of the hijab requirement, a policy pursued in recent months with the green light from the judiciary and the support of security institutions and state media.
