Tel Aviv (Israel), 17 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has described the decision to launch an investigation into the government failures that led to the attack on 7 October 2023 through a government-approved commission as ‘offensive to the victims of 7 October and the hundreds of soldiers who died in the war’. ‘The government is doing everything it can to escape the truth and evade its responsibilities,’ Lapid said. The government is ‘setting up a commission that will investigate itself,’ commented the Movement for Quality Government in Israel, which is critical of Netanyahu, ‘this is not a commission of inquiry, it is a cover-up commission.’
