Rome, 19 November (LaPresse) – British Defence Minister John Healey, speaking at Downing Street, said that ‘a Russian spy ship, the Yantar, is on the border of British waters north of Scotland’. ‘We have deployed a Royal Navy frigate and RAF aircraft to monitor and track every movement of this ship, during which the Yantar has pointed lasers at our pilots,’ Healey continued, explaining that the ship is ‘designed to gather information and map our submarine cables.’ According to the minister, this is an ‘extremely dangerous’ manoeuvre by the Russian armed forces. ‘My message to Russia and Putin is this: we see you, we know what you are doing, and if the Yantar heads south, we will be ready,’ Healey concluded.
