Brussels, 24 Nov. (LaPresse) – "This morning, an efficient and coordinated European effort, as well as a strong European presence in Geneva, allowed us to make significant progress in the negotiations for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Although there is still much work to be done, there is now a solid basis for moving forward as we are doing; we must remain united and continue to put Ukraine's best interests at the centre of our efforts. This is about the security of our entire continent, now and in the future.‘ This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the end of the informal summit of EU leaders. ’Today's meeting in Luanda reaffirmed that we are united in our support for Ukraine. These are the fundamental European principles for the future: Ukraine's territory and sovereignty must be respected. Only Ukraine, as a sovereign country, can make decisions about its armed forces,‘ she emphasised. ’The choice of their destiny is in their hands. I would also like to underline Europe's central role in the country's future. Tomorrow, we will deepen the dialogue with our partners in the coalition of the willing," she concluded.
