Brussels, Dec. 9 (LaPresse) – Europe as a group of “declining” nations led by “weak” people. This is how U.S. President Donald Trump described Europe in an interview with Politico. The White House chief belittled the United States’ traditional allies for failing to control migration flows and to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, also indicating that he would support European political candidates aligned with his vision for the continent. “I think they are weak,” Trump said, referring to European political leaders. “But I also think they want to be politically correct.” “I think they don’t know what to do,” he added. “Europe doesn’t know what to do.” The frontal attack—Politico writes—against European political leadership represents the president’s most virulent criticism to date of these Western democracies, threatening a decisive rupture with countries such as France and Germany, which already have deeply strained relations with the Trump administration.
