Washington (USA), 9 December (LaPresse) – Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker has signed a law limiting the enforcement of immigration laws outside the jurisdiction of state courts and making it easier to prosecute anti-immigration agents for violations of their rights. The law, proposed by Democrats, was passed in October during the federal government's anti-immigration campaign in the Chicago area, which saw thousands of arrests and repeated clashes between citizens and police. The new law also limits the information that Illinois hospitals, nurseries and universities can provide to immigration agents. Republicans and the Trump administration have criticised the measure, which they believe makes the work of immigration agents more difficult.
