Rome, 11 December (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, according to the Kremlin. "The heads of state exchanged views on the further development of friendly Russian-Venezuelan relations, in line with the strategic partnership and cooperation agreement that came into force in November this year. Vladimir Putin expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people and reiterated his support for the Maduro government's policies aimed at protecting national interests and sovereignty in the face of growing external pressure,‘ the statement read. The parties confirmed their ’mutual commitment to the consistent implementation of joint projects in the commercial, economic, energy, financial, cultural, humanitarian and other fields."
