Washington (USA), 18 December (LaPresse) – The United States announces sanctions against two judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Gocha Lordkipanidze of Georgia and Erdenebalsuren Damdin of Mongolia. These individuals, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement, ‘have been directly involved in the ICC's efforts to investigate, arrest, detain or prosecute Israeli citizens without Israel's consent, including voting in favour of the ICC's 15 December decision rejecting Israel's appeal.’ The Court, Rubio said, "has continued to take politicised action against Israel, setting a dangerous precedent for all nations. We will not tolerate the ICC's abuses of power that violate the sovereignty of the United States and Israel and unjustly subject US and Israeli citizens to the ICC's jurisdiction.‘ For Rubio, Washington's message to the Court ’has been clear: the United States and Israel are not parties to the Rome Statute and therefore reject the jurisdiction of the ICC."
