Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 11 January (LaPresse/AP) – The death toll in Iran has risen to at least 538 in the crackdown on anti-government protests that have been ongoing since 28 December. This was reported by activists from the Human Rights Activists News Agency (Hrana), a US-based group, adding that more than 10,600 people have been arrested. According to Hrana, 490 of those killed were protesters and 48 were members of the security forces, and the death toll is expected to rise.
