Strasbourg (France), Jan. 19 (LaPresse) – "I believe that an escalation serves no one. It doesn’t serve the United States and it doesn’t serve Europe. The signal must be one of firmness but also of willingness to engage in dialogue. Just as we did in recent months by negotiating firmly, we achieved a result that seemed impossible. A 50% tariff seemed like the end of the world, then we reached a 15% agreement that effectively satisfied our entire production sector. This is, in my view, what needs to be done: find unity but engage in dialogue." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, speaking about the Greenland crisis during a press briefing at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. "If there is disagreement about the idea of tariffs, it should be stated, as we did, and then one should seek to achieve a single objective, because any division between Europe and the United States is a gift to our competitors, industrially, commercially, and geostrategically. The competitors of the West are the major autocracies, which have their objectives, rightly, and we must have ours and protect our interests and our security," he added.
