Davos, Jan. 22 (LaPresse) – Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Denmark’s sovereignty over Greenland was not discussed during his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. Asked during an interview with Fox News whether Greenland would remain under Danish control under the agreement announced by Trump, Rutte replied: “The issue was not raised during my conversation this evening.” The talks, he explained, instead focused on security in the Arctic. “We basically discussed how to implement the president’s vision of protecting, yes, Greenland, but obviously not only Greenland, rather the entire Arctic,” he said. Rutte acknowledged that “there is a lot of work to be done” to ensure that Nato has “everything it needs on land, sea and air” to protect the region.
