Washington (U.S.), Jan. 22 (LaPresse) – The House Oversight Committee voted in favor of recommending the indictment of Bill and Hillary Clinton for contempt of Congress, after their refusal to testify as part of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The vote, which was bipartisan, paves the way for referring the former presidential couple to the Department of Justice for possible criminal action. Nine Democrats voted with Republicans in favor of indicting the former president, while three Democrats joined their Republican colleagues in the indictment of the former secretary of state. Should the full House, in the coming weeks, approve the indictments, the Department of Justice would be called upon to prosecute the Clintons for contempt of Congress, an offense punishable by fines of up to $100,000 and up to one year in prison.
