Lisbon (Portugal), Feb. 8 (LaPresse/AP) – Socialist center-left candidate António José Seguro achieved a landslide victory in Portugal’s presidential election over far-right populist André Ventura. At the close of polls, exit polls from the country’s three main television networks gave moderate Seguro around 70% of the vote, compared to approximately 30% for Ventura. The winner will succeed outgoing President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who has reached the constitutional limit of two five-year terms.
