Tokyo (Japan), 18 February (LaPresse) – Sanae Takaichi has been reappointed by Parliament to form her second government, following last week's landslide election victory. All previous ministers are expected to be confirmed. Takaichi will seek to use the symbolism of the day, seen as a formality, to give further momentum to her ruling Liberal Democratic Party, which aims to capitalise on its two-thirds qualified majority in the lower house, the more powerful of Japan's two parliamentary chambers. Her goals include increasing military power, boosting public spending and strengthening conservative social policies.
