London (United Kingdom), 24 February (LaPresse/AP) – The British House of Commons has approved the publication of documents relating to the appointment of former Prince Andrew as commercial envoy. The approval was passed by acclamation. It is unclear when the documents will be published, given that the former prince was arrested last week on charges of abuse of office. The government has made it clear that it does not intend to interfere with the investigation. Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrat opposition and author of the motion, argued that the time has come for transparency. ‘In many ways, this is the first truly global scandal involving the White House, Silicon Valley, Oslo and Paris, but it is also a deeply British scandal reaching to the top of the British establishment,’ he said as he opened the debate. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested last week on charges of misconduct in public office: he is accused of sharing confidential documents with Epstein during his tenure as commercial envoy.
