Rome, Feb. 26 (LaPresse) – Borge Brende, President and CEO of the Davos Economic Forum, has resigned from his position following revelations about his ties with Larry Epstein. "After careful consideration, I have decided to resign as President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. My time here, lasting eight and a half years, has been deeply rewarding," Brende said in a statement. "I am grateful for the incredible collaboration with my colleagues and partners. I believe now is the right time for the Forum to continue its important work without distractions," he added. Alois Zwinggi will serve as interim President and CEO. "We wish to express our sincere appreciation for Borge Brende’s significant contribution to the World Economic Forum. His dedication and leadership were crucial during a critical period of reforms for the organization, which led to the success of the annual Davos meeting. We respect his decision to step down," co-chairs André Hoffmann and Larry Fink said in the same statement. The Board of Directors – it was explained – will oversee the leadership transition, including a plan "to guide an appropriate process for identifying a permanent successor."
