Frankfurt (Germany), 27 February. (LaPresse) – The German Foreign Ministry has renewed its travel warning for Israel, ‘strongly’ advising against travel to the region. ‘Travel to Israel and East Jerusalem is strongly discouraged,’ the ministry said on its website, stressing that the security situation in the region is tense and increasingly unstable. ‘In the event of an escalation, security incidents in Israel and the Palestinian Territories could occur without warning. In addition, air traffic disruptions are expected at any time,’ the statement continued. In light of growing tensions between the United States and Iran, several Western countries have tightened their travel recommendations for the Middle East. Poland has urged its citizens to leave Iran, Israel and Lebanon immediately. France also advises its citizens against all non-essential travel to Israel and the Palestinian Territories, including tourism and family visits. The British Foreign Office also advises against all non-essential travel to the region.
