Turin, 13 March (LaPresse) – A French soldier has been killed during an attack in the Erbil region of Iraq. The announcement was made by President Emmanuel Macron, who explained that the soldier was Marshal Arnaud Frion of the 7th Battalion of Alpine Hunters of Varces. ‘I would like to express the nation's affection and solidarity to his family and his brothers in arms,’ Macron wrote on X. "Several of our soldiers were wounded. France stands by them and their loved ones. This attack against our forces engaged in the fight against ISIS since 2015 is unacceptable. Their presence in Iraq is part of the rigorous framework of the fight against terrorism. The war in Iran cannot in any way justify such attacks," he added.
