Rome, 14 March (LaPresse) – ‘The war that the US and Israel have launched against Iran, if not stopped, will have catastrophic effects on the global economy. There were no grounds for this war, but now that it has been launched, it will affect the entire Gulf region, which is in flames. We are heading towards something terrible, unless Israel and the United States stop.’ This was stated by economist Jeffrey Sachs speaking at the 45th anniversary of the UN University for Peace in Rome. According to Sachs, Europe was already “in a very fragile situation” due to the war in Ukraine, and what is happening in the Gulf will be “an additional burden” as “Europe is a region that imports oil”. “Prices will skyrocket. The European economy will deteriorate again,‘ explained Sachs, who believes the Old Continent should tell the United States to ’stop this war‘ before it ’causes global damage".
