Washington (USA), 19 March (LaPresse) – It was meant to be a joke, but judging by the Japanese guest’s expression, it came across more as a gaffe. Donald Trump, responding in the Oval Office to a question from a Japanese journalist about why the United States had not informed its allies before the attack on Iran, replied with a smile: “We didn’t discuss it with anyone. Who knows more about surprises than Japan? Why didn’t you tell us about Pearl Harbor, eh?”. Judging by her expression, however, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi did not appear amused by the US president’s remark.
