Brussels, 20 March (LaPresse) – ‘Due to the very different energy mixes across Member States, a one-size-fits-all approach cannot be adopted; instead, the approach must be targeted, tailored to the situation of individual Member States and temporary. And in this context, regarding the situation in Italy, we are committed to working closely with the Italian government on this decree.’ This was stated by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the press conference following the European Council, in response to a question on the measures contained in the Italian energy bill decree. “In line with the guidelines on the European Council’s conclusions, consultations will begin on Monday and we are confident that we can make progress in addressing Italy’s specific issues in the short term,” she added.
