Rome, 25 March (LaPresse/AP) – Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow has stated that a Thai ship has passed through the Strait of Hormuz following talks with the Iranian authorities. On Tuesday, he said that Thailand had requested passage through the strait for a vessel belonging to the energy conglomerate Bangchak Corporation and for a second vessel belonging to the major petrochemical firm SCG Chemicals. Thailand was informed on Monday that the Bangchak vessel had successfully crossed the strait and was en route, he said, whilst the second vessel was awaiting safe passage. Bangchak’s website states that the vessel is an oil tanker and that it is due to arrive in Thailand in early April.
