Milan, 27 March (LaPresse/AP) – Most of the US objectives in Iran are “ahead of schedule”, and “we can achieve them without ground troops”. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio when speaking to journalists after the G7 foreign ministers’ summit in France. “I will not discuss military tactics,” he added. When asked again about the role that troops might play, apart from a ground invasion, he stated that Trump “must be prepared for multiple eventualities” and that US forces are on standby “to offer the president maximum flexibility and the best chance to adapt to any contingencies”.
