Rome, 1 April (LaPresse) – The United Arab Emirates is reportedly preparing to assist the United States and its allies in forcing open the Strait of Hormuz. This is according to the Wall Street Journal, citing Arab officials. It would be the first country in the Persian Gulf to enter the conflict, after being hit by Iranian attacks. In this regard, the UAE – it is explained – is reportedly exerting pressure for the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution authorising such action. Emirati diplomats are said to have urged the United States and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to achieve this objective. A United Arab Emirates official stated that Iran believes it is fighting for its survival and is prepared to drag the entire global economy down with it.
