(LaPresse) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected portrayals of Iran as a security threat. “Iran, with this same name, character and identity, is one of the oldest continuous civilizations in the history of humanity,” he declared in a letter addressed to the Americans, released by the state media Press TV and reported by Al Jazeera. "Iran has never, in its modern history, chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism or domination. Iran has never started a war. Yet it has repelled those who attacked it with determination and courage", he explained. “Portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with the facts observable today. This perception is the product of the political and economic whims of the powerful. The need to create an enemy to justify pressure, maintain military dominance, support the arms industry and control strategic markets,” he added.
