Rome, Apr. 4 (LaPresse) – “Iran informed the IAEA that a projectile struck near the Bushehr nuclear facility this morning, the fourth incident of this type in recent weeks. Iran also reported that a member of the site’s physical protection staff was killed by shrapnel and that a building within the complex was hit by shockwaves and fragments. No increase in radiation levels has been reported,” according to the International Atomic Energy Agency. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi “expressed deep concern over the incident and reiterated that nuclear power plant sites and surrounding areas must never be attacked, emphasizing that auxiliary buildings at the site may contain vital safety equipment. Reiterating the call for maximum military restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident, Director General Grossi once again stressed the fundamental importance of adhering to the seven pillars to ensure nuclear safety during a conflict.”
