Milan, 27 April (LaPresse) – Around 2,400 seafarers are stranded on more than 105 oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has closed to shipping. This was stated by Tim Wilkins, the chief executive of the oil tankers’ trade association Intertanko, in an interview with the BBC’s Today programme. Wilkins explained that there is “a huge amount of anxiety, stress and fatigue” on board, as crews have to manage basic supplies, including food and water, and carry out practical tasks such as waste disposal. “Many are stranded on board with no certainty as to when they will be able to return home,” he added.
